Captain Brian Krol

Brian Krol joined the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office in October 2000, following in the footsteps of two of his brothers. He promoted to captain in 2023.

Captain Krol rose through the ranks, first as a sergeant in 2008, then to lieutenant in 2016. He has worked in nearly all aspects of the department, including the Custody Operations Division, Court Services as a bailiff, Community Programs, and the Sheriff’s Patrol Unit.

He currently manages the Sheriff’s Office units that patrol and secure Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Laguna Honda Hospital, and various Department of Public Health clinics.

Captain Krol grew up in South San Francisco and attended Archbishop Riordan High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications at Sonoma State University and later attended the San Francisco Police Academy, graduating with the 23rd Regional Class.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and cheering on the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and Warriors. Captain Krol also supports the Special Olympics and Autism Speaks at fundraising events, such as the annual Polar Plunge.

He is married with two children.
