Cadet ReedAs a San Francisco Sheriff’s Cadet, you’ll join a diverse workforce that helps protect public safety and enforce the law. Duties include:

  • Assisting sworn staff with maintaining building security
  • Conducting searches and monitoring security equipment 
  • Providing directions inside public buildings 
  • Answering telephones and helping with correspondence
  • Providing office and clerical support  


You must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a valid driver’s license 
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent

  1. Visit the San Francisco Department of Human Resources website
  2. Click Job Seekers>Job Opportunities
  3. Look for the 8300 Sheriff’s Cadet position under Featured Opportunities
  4. If the cadet position is not listed, click Notify Me of Future Jobs on the webpage’s left-hand column
  5. Type in 8300 in the Search bar
  6. Click 8300 - Sheriff’s Cadet prompt
