COVID-19 Jail, Community Programs & SFSO Staff Data

Jail Health Services (JHS), a section of the Department of Public Health, began providing COVID-19 testing in April 2020 to new arrestees at jail intake. JHS also tests people who remain in custody on Day 5 and Day 14, in addition to monthly housing pod surveillance testing.

Individuals who test positive are isolated; all others remain in quarantine for the first 14 days of custody or until they are released from jail -- whichever comes first.

This protocol, along with other isolation, quarantine and physical distancing protocols, helps intercept and contain any potential spread.
