Physical Ability Exam The physical ability exam is comprised of the following four events, which will be completed in a sequence determined by exam administrators at the exam site. 1. OBSTACLE COURSE Run a 99-yard obstacle course consisting of several sharp turns, a number of curb height obstacles, a 34-inch high obstacle that must be vaulted, and a resistance simulator that must be compressed and held for 10 seconds. Passing score is 50 seconds or less. 2. TRIGGER SQUEEZE SIMULATOR Hold a grip dynamometer in their hand with the arm extended and parallel to the ground. Squeeze the grip dynamometer as hard as possible without bending the elbow. Result is recorded in pounds. Both hands will be tested. Passing score is a combination of 120 pounds or more, with right and left hand scores combined, and a minimum of no less than 50 pounds on each hand. 3. DUMMY DRAG Lift and drag 165-pound lifelike dummy, 32 feet. The dummy must be lifted and dragged under its shoulders or around its body; the dummy cannot be dragged by its arms, feet, legs, or head. Time starts when the dummy's feet cross the starting line and ends when the dummy's feet cross the finish line. Passing score is 30 seconds or less. 4. FIVE HUNDRED YARD RUN Run 500 yards (equivalent to 1 lap plus 60 yards of a standard running track). Passing score is 2:30 minutes or less. |
