Emergency Service Unit/Special Response Team

The Emergency Service Unit responds to critical incidents in San Francisco and provides mutual aid to the Police Department during demonstrations, mass arrests and special events. The ESU is comprised of specially trained deputies who perform their regular assigned duties until called upon to respond to a critical incident.

The Special Response Team is the Department's tactical unit. All members of the team are trained in Special Weapons and Tactics.

 

 

K-9 Unit

In the Department's effort to reduce the amount of illegal substance entering the jails, the K-9 Unit routinely searches facilities for drugs and contrabands.


  

Investigative Services

The Investigative Services Unit is responsible for investigation of crime that occurs in the jails as well as allegations of employee misconduct. This Investigative Services Unit conducts approximately 300 criminal and administrative investigations annually.

 

City Hall Security

photoCity Hall is the center of San Francisco government. It houses the Mayor's office and hearing rooms for all City and County boards and commissions, including the Board of Supervisors. City Hall is the site of many civic events and is frequently visited by national and international dignitaries. photo

 

 

The deputies assigned to this unit oversee the safety and security of City Hall, providing emergency response and securing all public entrances to the building.

 

 

 

Cad-911

The Sheriff's Department provides 24-hour security for the San Francisco Computer Assisted Dispatch Center, known as CAD-911 the dispatch center, located at 1011 Turk Street.

CAD-911 combines the dispatch function of City Police, Fire and Paramedics under one roof and one central operation. The building is of reinforced concrete, designed to withstand earthquakes and other natural disasters. It houses the newly created Department of Emergency Communications as well as the Office of Emergency Services.
