FIELD SUPPORT UNITS Field Support Units monitor the Sheriff and Police Department's radio transmissions to respond to any mutual aid support. The Warrant Service
Unit seeks and arrests individuals who have violated the orders of local
judges. Deputies assigned to this unit expedite warrants. They also survey
known hangouts to identify and arrest violators. The Unit participates
in the Fugitive Recovery Enforcement Team program that works in tandem
with the San Francisco Police Department and the State Department of Corrections
to arrest state parolees who have violated conditions of their parole
The Sheriff's Department assumed operation of the Central Warrant Bureau from the Police Department in 1998. CWB is responsible for maintaining all San Francisco felony and misdemeanor warrants. Deputies assigned to this unit arrest suspects with outstanding warrants, write citations, transport custodies who have concluded their criminal cases in other counties to San Francisco, and verify warrants for arresting agencies.
The Station Transfer Unit's primary function is to safely and efficiently pick up arrestees from the district police stations and transport them to our intake facility.
